The announcement

Essential repairs will be carried out on the old Holne Bridge and Newbridge at Holne near Ashburton, starting this weekend (Saturday 24 October).

Both bridges have been struck by vehicles in a number of separate incidents over recent weeks. The parapet of the old Holne Bridge has been displaced and the parapet and coping stones on Newbridge have sustained damage.

To enable repairs to be undertaken, closures will be in place on both structures from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November.

The Grade II Listed Holne Bridge will be completely closed 24 hours a day throughout the scheme, with no access permitted. However, Newbridge will undergo daytime closures from 8am to 5pm each day.

These closures have been planned to keep disruption to a minimum and to allow work to be completed as soon as possible. Work is weather dependent.
